Sockatyes creates reusable, non-constrictive straps that secure football socks and open up a new, camera-friendly space for sponsorship. Our product is patented and designed specifically for football’s demands on comfort, safety and broadcast visibility.
Sockatyes Limited traces its roots to the UK, with incorporation records dating back to May 2001—years before “grip socks” and sleeves became mainstream. From the outset, the goal was simple: replace wasteful, tourniquet-style tape with a washable, adjustable solution that doesn’t restrict blood flow.
In 2014, Sockatyes worked with Spain’s La Liga (then LFP) and Atlético de Madrid to launch a new ad medium worn on players’ socks—turning the ankle into an inventory class seen in close-ups and replays. More than two dozen top-two-division clubs adopted the device that season.
Sockatyes was presented publicly with club and league executives in Madrid; leadership—including Managing Director Stanley Yu and founder Russell Pointon—demonstrated the product’s use on-pitch. The LFP’s endorsement fed into gaming and broadcast integrations through partners such as Konami.
As adoption and interest grew, Sockatyes established a U.S. office to serve the Americas. Shortly after, it became a corporate partner of the NFHS (the governing body for U.S. high-school sports), highlighting the strap’s safety/function benefits in scholastic soccer.
Guiding the company's overall vision and growth.
Managing product development and market rollout.
Building strong links with clubs and sponsors.
Supporting business strategy and commercial partnerships.
Sleeves and personalised socks have changed how players dress from the knee down. Sockatyes meets that reality with a cleaner, reusable tie-up—and, crucially, turns an unavoidable on-camera area into sellable real estate that aligns with competition rules on equipment and advertising.
